About SMF

SMF was created because I thought there should be a community out there just for Sales Managers.  We are a unique breed and there are a lot of us out there in the world.  And like everyone else, we need help from time to time.  Our jobs come with a great deal of stress and typically very little training and development.  Most Sales Managers are on their own.  Sink or swim.

Open Source Sales Management is a simple reference to the open source software movement.  Software code was released to the public so any developer could enhance and modify it.  Now we have Mozilla (Firefox), Wikipedia, Word Press, and many other examples where the “crowd” has created tools that allow for the enhancement of the “crowd”.  Look at the iPhone!  Their “apps” store has leveraged “the crowd” more than any other product on the market.

It is time that the “crowd” of Sales Managers out there had a place to gather and open up their code to one another.  What works for you?  How have you dealt with under-performers? What KPIs are you using? How are you managing in these tough times?

So please sign up and join the conversation.  And please tell your fellow Sales Managers where to find us.  We need all of the good ideas we can get our hands on!
